What was the highlight of The Eastern Szechwan Hotel
Never again, service was atrocious.
Pool was refreshing and clean, two small bottles of water provided free (though warm), helped get taxis when needed. Location was a decent walk to SM City Mall but doable.
This was the most unwelcoming place I have ever stayed in. Both our payments and included breakfasts was queried and had to be checked, luckily I had proof of both on my phone which they took pictures of. No one ever greeted us whenever we arrived, passed by or left, definitely no smiles. Phone was not connected to reception and we were told we had to come to reception whenever we needed anything, There was no information in rooms about anything at all except a takeaway menu (even that we were not sure about until later) and no info about how to work the in room safe, when and where breakfast was held, pool opening times, where to get pool towels was not given verbally either. We were in the dark unless we asked at reception. They tried to charge us for every little request, e.g, extra pillows, ice. The fridge only turned on when you were in room with key in holder (though did not know that until we returned after a hot day out to find warm drinks waiting) wasn't informed about this so imagine if you had medication that was meant to be kept cold in fridge - fridges should not turn off. Utterly useless as by the time you get into room it will take ages for fridge temperature to get cold enough to do anything. In-room security box not working had to ask for help, help was efficient though, Toilet did not flush so had to go back to reception to ask for help, plumber came quickly and fixed best he could, but still took 2hrs to refill cistern. Bed was amazingly hard, like a block of cement with cardboard on top. I can handle no air-con in hall and elevator but restaurant was too warm to comfortably eat. Taxis never knew where to go even with address we always had to direct with our google maps.

The hotel is very nice.
The hotel is very nice. Very good size room and nice big comfortable bed. Excellent facilities including a very nice bathroom.
That some guests are very noisey when sitting and drinking by the pool at night. I had a room on the third floor with the pool below my window. And some find it necessary to talk so loudly in the corridors very early in the morning and very late at night. They have no respect for other guests. I would like to see some signs in the corridors, asking guests to observe quietness and silence between 10pm and 7am. Some hotels have signs like that.

The room was nice and spacious enough, no funny smells :)
The room was nice and spacious enough, no funny smells :) It was nice that toothbrushes were provided ( if needed) I also liked the big mango tree by the pool
The windows could be looked after a little better and the air conditioning system could be upgraded to a newer one ( but it worked)
